Polio Information Brought to Students, Community
Polio survivor Mary Lou Phillips, of Fulton, spoke twice Wednesday about the virus, along with Dr. Ted Groshong, representing Rotary International's Polio Plus program. They spoke to the Rotary Club of Fulton's lunch group and later to an auditorium of listeners at William Woods University. Capturing Callaway, An Oral History of the County
The Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society has embarked on an ambitious project to preserve the history of the County through oral, recorded interviews with some of it's most remarkable residents. The first interview for the project took place in December 2013, with a 100 year old resident. In America, the greatest nation on Earth, an average of 3.5 million people experience a period of homelessness each year. Of these, 35% are families with children, and 23% are military veterans. The modern era of homelessness can be tied back to the 1980's when the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) suffered major budget cuts.
