Gabe Craighead talked to the club today about his passion for the Missouri River 340 race that occurs every summer. The proceeds from the race benefit Missouri River Relief, an organization that works hard to clean the river and making it more enjoyable for Missourians.
The Missouri River 340 starts in Kansas City and ends in St. Charles. It attracts racers from all over the world. Gabe has competed in the race for several years, posting a personal best time of around 61 hours. He said his goal is to complete the race in under 60 hours. Gabe's wife, Amy, serves as his ground crew, driving some 900 miles to keep up with him and assure that he receives the needed supplies at each stop.
Gabe's passion for the river and extreme sports seems to be what drives him to torture his body every year, but he wouldn't have it any other way.
